February 24, 2006. I drove to
Seattle Friday, met my carpool buddies, and proceeded with the 5 hr ride to
Oregon's Mt. Hood (11,300 ft). Upon arrival, I setup a tent, sleeping outside
until our 5:30a rendezvous at the trailhead at Timberline Lodge. Our route
was the popular south side approach with an elevation gain of 5300'. 10 of
the 12 in our party made the summit, we were back at the car by 5pm and back
in Seattle by 9:30p. The blue sky picture below was not taken on this trip
but it does show the route. Other pics are from our climb. The weather was
very very cold and windy but I was prepared. It was an amazingly fun time.
